Initiatives & Campaigns

Beginning in October 2011, the Omaha Street School intends to open its doors to a new population of citizens who often get left behind – the young adults, 18-25 yrs of age, who were unable, or failed to, complete a high school diploma. Many of these blossoming adults attended OSS, or some other alternative program, and were unsuccessful as teenagers in their academic pursuits. While furthering their education is important, a higher priority is often finding (and keeping) a job.

Understanding that not all individuals finished high school, but that many still need additional support or skills, OSS is creating a certification program highlighting workplace skills and job readiness. The program will include 3 specific levels, allowing for the individual to properly begin a course of study at his/her needed starting point. The concept will move clients from entry level knowledge, to a higher level of expertise and training.
